Colosseum tickets sold out? What's actually left, and which ticket to buy
The official ticket site sells the standard Colosseum ticket for €18 and the "Full Experience" tickets (Arena, Underground or Attic) for €24. When we checked on October 26, 2026, every official ticket type was sold out for the next two to four weeks, the Underground was sold out on every date on sale, and nothing was on sale after November 25. If your date is gone, you have three real options: wait for new dates, take a different ticket type, or pay more for a guided tour that includes entry.

The 30-second answer
Most visitors: the official €18 "24h – Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine" ticket. It covers the Colosseum at your booked time plus the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. On October 26 the first free date was November 16.
You want the Underground: the official €24 "Full Experience – Underground levels and Arena" ticket. It was sold out on every date on sale (through November 25). You can wait for new dates (see below) or book a guided tour that includes Underground entry, which costs much more.
You just want to stand on the arena floor: the official €18 "24h Only Arena" ticket (20 minutes on the arena floor plus the Forum and Palatine). On October 26 it opened up earliest: November 11.
Only buy from: ticketing.colosseo.it. The park says on that site that it's the only official online seller, and it has a form to report resellers charging inflated prices.

Official Colosseum ticket prices (checked October 26, 2026)
These are the tickets for individuals (1 to 8 people) on the official site. Prices are full fares in euros.

| 24h – Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine | €18 | Colosseum at your booked time (the main levels), plus one entry to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill |
| 24h Only Arena | €18 | The arena floor only, for 20 minutes at your booked time, plus the Forum, Palatine and SUPER sites |
| Forum Pass SUPER | €18 | Roman Forum, Palatine, Imperial Fora and SUPER sites. No Colosseum. Open date, valid 30 days from purchase (not on first Sundays or other free days) |
| Full Experience with Arena | €24 | Colosseum plus the arena floor, Forum, Palatine and SUPER sites |
| Full Experience – Underground levels and Arena | €24 | Colosseum, arena floor and the Underground at your booked time. You must arrive 30 minutes before your Underground slot |
| Full Experience with the Attic | €24 | Colosseum plus the top level (Attic) at your booked time, Forum, Palatine and SUPER sites |
| SUPER sites supplement | €4 | Adds the SUPER sites to the €18 24h ticket, for the same day or within 24 hours of your Colosseum slot |
| Parco Membership | €25 / €50 / €80 | Unlimited Forum/Palatine, one free 24h Colosseum entry and one Only Arena entry per week (reservation still required). Does not include the Attic or Underground |
With every Full Experience ticket you get one Colosseum entry at the time on the ticket, and one entry to the Forum/Palatine on the day before, the same day or the day after.
What was sold out on October 26, 2026
We read the official booking calendar for each ticket type at about 3:45 PM US Central time (9:45 PM in Rome). "Not on sale" means the date couldn't be selected at all, either because it isn't released yet or because that ticket isn't offered that day.
| Ticket | Sold out | Still available | Not on sale |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24h (€18) | Oct 27 – Nov 15 | Nov 16 – 25 | Nov 1, Nov 4, Nov 26 onward |
| 24h Only Arena (€18) | Oct 27 – Nov 10 | Nov 11 – 25 | Nov 1, Nov 26 onward |
| Full Experience – Underground (€24) | Oct 27 – Nov 25 (every date on sale) | None | Nov 1, Nov 4, Nov 26 onward |
| Full Experience – Attic (€24) | Oct 27 – Nov 24 | Nov 25 only | Nov 1, Nov 4, Nov 26 onward |
| Full Experience with Arena (€24) | Oct 27 – Nov 2 | None | Nov 1, Nov 3 onward |
So the booking window was about 30 days: the last date anyone could book was November 25. The Attic had exactly one open date, and it was the newest one, so it looks like dates are released one day at a time and the scarce tickets go the same day. We haven't confirmed the release time. If you need the Underground, check the newest date on the calendar every day from about 30 days before your trip.
One snapshot, one evening. Availability changes all the time, and cancellations can reappear. Check the official calendar for your own dates.
Which ticket should you buy?
| If you... | Buy | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Want the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine at the lowest price | 24h, €18 | Cheapest Colosseum entry; sells out last |
| Want photos from the arena floor | 24h Only Arena, €18 | Same price, but only 20 minutes inside and it's arena-only; opened up earlier than the 24h ticket in our check |
| Care most about the gladiator tunnels | Full Experience – Underground, €24 | The only official way into the Underground; book the day your date is released, or use a guided tour |
| Want the view from the top level | Full Experience – Attic, €24 | The Attic is only on this ticket; not in the Membership |
| Only care about ancient Rome outside the Colosseum | Forum Pass SUPER, €18 | Open date for 30 days, so it can't sell out on a given day |
| Are in Rome for weeks | Parco Membership | One Colosseum entry and one arena entry per week, but you still reserve each one |
Official tickets vs guided tours
When official dates are gone, tour companies that hold group slots often still have space. You pay for the guide and the slot, not a better view. In GetYourGuide's search on October 26, guided tours that include entry started around $33–$69 per person, tours with the Underground mostly $79–$224, and private Underground tours $335–$536. Prices are per person in US dollars, shown before taxes and fees, and change by date.
| Official ticket | Guided tour with entry | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | €18 or €24 | Usually 2–10 times more |
| Underground on a sold-out date | No | Often yes (check that "Underground" is included, not "optional" or an upgrade) |
| Guide | No (official audio and guided routes are separate products) | Yes |
| Cancellation | Check the terms when you book | Many GetYourGuide tours offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before; check each listing |
Watch the wording. Many listings say "with Underground option" or "optional Underground": the Underground is a more expensive version you pick on the booking page, not the headline price.

Rules that trip people up
| Rule | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| Every visitor needs a reserved ticket, "regardless of the fare charged (Full, Reduced, Free)" | Kids and anyone with free entry still need a booked ticket for the time slot. Don't assume you can just walk in |
| Timed entry | Your Colosseum entry is for the date and time on the ticket, and it's one entry only |
| Underground: arrive 30 minutes early | The official ticket says arrival is "mandatory" 30 minutes before the Underground time |
| Forum/Palatine window | Full Experience tickets: one Forum entry on the day before, the same day or the day after your Colosseum visit |
| Reduced and free fares are checked at the gate | The park's site lists a €2 reduced fare for EU citizens aged 18 to 24 (with ID) and free fares for some groups. If you don't qualify at the gate, they issue a new ticket, if any are left |
| Only one official online seller | ticketing.colosseo.it. Other sites selling "tickets" are resellers or tour companies |
Free alternatives
- The outside is free. The best exterior views are from Via dei Fori Imperiali, the Colle Oppio park and the Colosseo metro exit, at any hour.
- First Sunday of the month. The park has free-entry days, including the first Sunday of the month. In our check, Sunday November 1 wasn't bookable online at all. Read the official site's notice for that day before you plan around it, and expect long lines.
- Forum Pass SUPER (€18) isn't free, but it's an open-date ticket for the Forum and Palatine, so you can still see ancient Rome when every Colosseum slot is gone.
Checklist
- Count back about 30 days from your visit date; that's when the date showed up on the calendar in our check.
- Buy only on ticketing.colosseo.it (check the address bar).
- Book a ticket for every person, including kids and anyone with free entry.
- Underground: be at the meeting point 30 minutes before your slot.
- Bring ID if you booked a reduced or free fare.
- Plan the Forum/Palatine for the day before, the same day or the day after.
- Have mobile data for your QR code and the map. Airalo Italy eSIM (affiliate), or see our Italy eSIM guide.
What to do now
- Your date is 30+ days away: note the date it should be released (about 30 days before) and check the official calendar daily from then. For the Underground or the Attic, check the newest date.
- Your date is sold out for the ticket you want: try the other official ticket types first. In our check, Only Arena opened up five days earlier than the standard 24h ticket.
- Everything official is gone, or you must have the Underground: book a guided tour that clearly includes Underground entry, with free cancellation, and keep checking the official site.
- You can't get any Colosseum entry: buy the open-date Forum Pass SUPER and see the Colosseum from outside.
FAQ
How much are Colosseum tickets in 2026?
On the official site on October 26, 2026: €18 for the standard 24h ticket (Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine) or the Only Arena ticket, and €24 for the Full Experience with the Arena, the Underground or the Attic.
Why are Colosseum tickets sold out?
Dates seem to go on sale about 30 days ahead, and the limited Underground and Attic slots sell out almost at once. On October 26 the Underground was sold out on every date on sale, and the standard ticket was sold out until November 16.
How far in advance can you book Colosseum tickets?
On October 26, 2026 the last bookable date for every ticket type was November 25, about 30 days ahead. Later dates weren't on sale yet.
Can you still see the Colosseum Underground if it's sold out?
Not with an official ticket for that date. Your options are to wait for newly released dates or cancellations, or book a guided tour that includes Underground entry, which costs much more than the €24 official ticket.
Do children need a Colosseum ticket?
Yes. The official booking page says every visitor needs a reserved ticket, whether the fare is full, reduced or free.
Is the Colosseum free on the first Sunday of the month?
The park has free days, including the first Sunday of the month, but on our check November 1 couldn't be booked online. Check the official site's notice for that day.
