teamLab Planets tickets: when to book, where to buy, what it costs

teamLab Planets in Toyosu sells no tickets at the door, and every standard ticket is for a set date and entry time. Here is what the official store charges, how far ahead to book for your dates, why buying direct is usually the better deal, and what to wear for the water rooms.

Ad / affiliate disclosure: I may earn a commission if you book through the GetYourGuide links on this page, at no extra cost to you. Buying on teamLab's official ticket store has no reseller markup, and I earn nothing from it. PracticalPivot is not affiliated with teamLab. The 30-second answer

Buy on the official teamLab Planets ticket store. Adults start at ¥3,800 (dynamic pricing, so busy slots cost more), ages 13-17 ¥2,800, ages 4-12 ¥1,500, 3 and under free. There is no ticket sale on site.

Book as soon as your Tokyo dates are fixed. Weekend and holiday slots are the ones that go: travel guides checked this month report popular times selling out 2-3 weeks ahead. Weekday mornings are the easiest (and cheapest) to get.

Official tickets can't be refunded, but you can move them. Tickets bought on teamLab's own store can change date and time up to 3 times, until 2 hours before your slot. That is often all the flexibility you need.

Prices include tax. teamLab says Entrance Pass prices use dynamic pricing, so the adult price you see at checkout depends on the date and time you pick. The store may ask for ID if you buy a student ticket. The official guest checkout takes Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners, PayPay and UnionPay; one-time payment only.

When to book: sell-out timing

teamLab does not publish a fixed date when each month's slots go on sale; third-party guides report the calendar opening roughly two to three months ahead. What matters more is how fast your day fills. The table below is guidance, built from teamLab's notes on busy times and from travel guides checked in October 2026, not a promise from teamLab.

teamLab lists closures on Thursday, November 5 and Thursday, December 3, 2026, and closes at 20:00 on December 31. Hours otherwise are 8:00-22:00, last entry one hour before closing.

Official store vs GetYourGuide or Klook

The official store is the cheaper, simpler route for most people. You pay teamLab's price with no markup, you can change your date and time up to 3 times online, and your QR ticket arrives by email 2 days before your visit (the code itself shows from 0:00 on the day). teamLab's FAQ says that if you bought through a travel agency or convenience store, changes go through that seller instead.

When a reseller can be worth it: if the listing offers free cancellation (the official store gives no refunds), if your card is declined on the official checkout, or if you want teamLab bundled with something else such as a Tokyo pass or a transfer. Resellers can cost more than the official price for the same slot, and cancellation terms differ by listing, so read them on the listing itself. teamLab says resold tickets will not get you in, so stick to established sellers.

What to wear (and what to leave in the locker)

  • Trousers you can roll above the knee. You walk barefoot through water that teamLab says can reach knee height, even for adults. Shoes and socks or stockings come off in the locker area.
  • Skirts and dresses: some rooms have mirrored floors. teamLab lends shorts and wraps free of charge (sizes XS to 6L); ask staff and return them on the way out.
  • Clothes you don't mind getting damp. Staff ask you to change or dry off before the next room if your clothes get wet; towels can be rented.
  • Bags: belongings are not allowed in the artwork spaces. Lockers are free, about 23 x 34 x 37 cm; bigger suitcases go in the stroller area on a wire lock.
  • Phone: photos and video are allowed. Keep your phone in a zip pocket or a waterproof pouch for the water rooms.
  • Kids: children under 13 need an adult (18+), one adult per three children. Small children with an inseam under 40 cm can only do the koi water room if carried.

Getting there

teamLab Planets is at Toyosu 6-1-16, Koto-ku, a 1-minute walk from the north exit of Shin-Toyosu Station on the Yurikamome Line. It is 5 minutes on foot from Shijo-mae Station (the Toyosu Market stop on the same line) and 10 minutes from Exit 7 of Toyosu Station on the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line. teamLab currently warns that the To-05-2 Toei bus from Tokyo Station, Ginza and Tsukiji is heavily congested and suggests other transport. A taxi from Ginza takes about 10 minutes. Arrive at your entry time and expect a short queue; the time on the ticket is when you enter, not how long you can stay. If you run late, teamLab says you can still enter the same day during opening hours. Allow roughly 1.5-2 hours inside (a common visitor estimate, not an official figure).

teamLab Borderless or Planets?

They are different museums. Planets (Toyosu) is a set route you walk barefoot, with water rooms, a floating flower garden and an outdoor moss garden; it runs until the end of 2027. teamLab Borderless (Azabudai Hills, 2 minutes from Kamiyacho Station) is a maze of connected rooms with no set route, so you wander at your own pace; adults start at ¥3,400 and it can sell on-site tickets when not sold out (¥200 more). If you can only do one: pick Planets for the water rooms and the one-way route, Borderless if you'd rather explore freely. Both use timed tickets and both sell out on weekends.

What to do

  1. Fix your Tokyo dates and pick a weekday morning if you can. Check it isn't November 5 or December 3.
  2. Open the official ticket store and look at your date. If your slot is there, buy it: it's the lowest price and you can move it up to 3 times.
  3. If your date is sold out, check the Premium Pass (no set time), then compare reseller listings for the same date.
  4. Want free cancellation? Only buy from a reseller whose listing says so, and accept that it may cost more.
  5. Two days before, look for the QR ticket email. Make sure you'll have mobile data in Tokyo to open it (or print it).
  6. On the day, wear roll-up trousers and take Yurikamome to Shin-Toyosu.

Pairing it with something nearby? The Tokyo in 3 days plan puts Tsukiji Outer Market in the morning and teamLab Planets in the afternoon of Day 1.
