Black Friday travel deals 2026: what to buy, what to skip, and when to look

Black Friday is Friday, November 27, 2026. Cyber Monday is November 30 and Travel Tuesday is December 1. This page is a plan for travelers: which purchases are worth timing to the sale, which ones aren't, and how to tell a real discount from a relabeled regular price.

Many retailers now start "early Black Friday" pricing in the first half of November, so start watching prices now.

How to tell a real deal

  • Write down today's price. Note the current price of anything you want before November. A "40% off" tag means little if the item sold at that price in October.
  • Compare the final price, not the percentage. Add shipping, taxes, resort or baggage fees before comparing.
  • Read the change and refund terms. The cheapest flight and hotel sale fares are often non-refundable or have blackout dates.
  • Check the return window. Holiday return windows differ by seller; check the listing before buying a gift.
  • Check delivery dates if the item has to arrive before a trip or a holiday.

Travel eSIMs

If you have an international trip booked for winter or spring, an eSIM is something you can buy during a sale and activate later. Before buying, check when the validity period starts: some plans start counting at purchase or installation, others when you first connect abroad.

Tours and tickets

Timed-entry attractions sell out regardless of sales, so for a fixed-date trip, availability matters more than a discount. Check the cancellation terms; many bookings allow free cancellation up to a stated cutoff.

Flying over the holidays?

Thanksgiving and late December are among the busiest flying periods of the year, and winter weather adds delays. Know your rights before you go: read flight delay and cancellation rights. If a past flight to or from Europe was badly delayed or cancelled, a claims company can check eligibility for you in exchange for a share of any payout.

AirHelp keeps a fee from successful claims; you can also claim directly from the airline for free.

What usually isn't worth waiting for

  • Anything you need for a trip before November 27. A small discount isn't worth travelling without it.
  • Timed tickets for fixed dates. Book when your dates are firm.
  • Peak-date flights. Sale fares often exclude holiday and school-break dates; read the travel-date rules.
